Jacob Petersen and RedPlate Amps

March 22, 2009 at 3:33 am (Guitar Stuff, Music) (, , , , , )

Cool vids of Jacob Petersen showcasing RedPlate Amps. RedPlate are boutique amps but not an overwhelming boutique price tag, like Dumble. Current prices (at the time of writing) start at around $1500. But watch this video. Jacob Petersen is really, really good.

I found these vids at this blog post – Strat-O-Blogger goes into a bit more detail about the gear that’s being used.

The Irish Girl by Adrian Legg

March 22, 2009 at 2:58 am (Awesome Artists, Music) (, , )

Amazing video of an amazing guitar player, Adrian Legg, playing The Irish Girl live. Like I said, he’s a phenomenal player and an inspirational writer. He chooses chords unexpectedly yet fittingly and structures his music in an understandable way, even to the casual listener. If you like music or guitar, you’ll love this vid!

Disturbia: Really Strange Foot Guitar

March 20, 2009 at 5:28 am (Cool and Strange Guitars) (, )

Okay, so I’ve seen some weird things – but wow. I didn’t even read the article… I just looked at the photos in horror. I’m really not sure what this means. I feel funny. Can someone help me?

Maybe Bumblefoot is a great player – but this is just weird.

Guitar Blogs Linking to Guitar Blogs

March 20, 2009 at 5:25 am (Personal Stuff)

http://www.electric-guitar-review.com/2006/09/05/rare-find-new-guitar-blogs/

Well, since I’m pretty new at the blogging thing, I thought I’d check out some other blogs – and I did. And I found a blog that linked to other blogs… and then another blog that linked to other blogs. So I figure, I can do that.

This particular blog had some merit on its own, though. This was a cool site that was fun to read with a LOT of good articles about a lot of different things guitar related. Definately worth your time!

Big Music Retailers and Their Nefarious Ways

March 20, 2009 at 5:09 am (Guitar Stuff, Personal Stuff) (, )

http://theguitarist.wordpress.com/2006/08/18/why-i-dislik-guitar-center/

While I was reading in the blogosphere this past week, i came across this interesting article. This particular blogger had enough with the nefarious ways of the big music gear retailers online. Obviously he’s named one in particular, but there are others that can be just as frustrating.

I don’t have a problem with large companies or corporate America. I have a problem when those companies sacrafice service for efficiency to try to save a buck. Just like HP and Dell having customer service centers outside of the US, these companies shove you through the press to get your order and forget you once you’re on the other side, other than to let you know about a new promotion.

Now I know what you’re saying… “I had a great experience!” I’m not saying tey’re horrible all the time. They have their moments and glimmers of hope, but mostly because of outstanding individuals who’d be that way no matter where they worked.

All I’m saying is that there are alternatives out there for buying guitars, strings, gear, etc. online. I found these guys and they really try hard to take care of you. A lot of their more expensive stuff has free shipping and they just really try to make it easy when buying stuff. So, I try to let folks know – there are alternatives!

Anyway, check out his post and leave a comment about what you think about the giant retailers.

Spring Clean Those Fender Guitars

March 19, 2009 at 6:48 am (Fender, Guitar Stuff) (, , )

Found this handy blog post about Spring Cleaning for your guitars. Is it Spring yet? Anyway, just wanted to share it with everyone. Some of it’s pretty basic knowledge, but it kinda kicked me in the butt to get to cleaning my gear… sometimes I fall behind.

Found this blog that had some cool and wacky guitars on it. This one was pretty cool, but lacked a travel amp… go figure.
